The possibility of sending ground forces from Western countries to Ukraine was discussed at a conference in Paris, but those present did not reach a consensus on this issue. French President Emmanuel Macron stated this following the results of the conference in support of Ukraine held on February 26.
The deployment of Western troops in the future cannot be ruled out, but today there is no consensus on an official, accepted and approved deployment of troops to the field, he said.
According to Macron, Moscow has taken an aggressive position not only against Ukraine, but also against us as a whole. Therefore, victory over the aggressor country is important for security and stability in Europe. The French leader stressed that Ukraine’s allies “are not at war with the Russian people” but that they “simply do not want to allow the path to win in Ukraine.”
Macron did not voice France’s position on the issue of sending NATO troops to Ukraine. Referred to “strategic uncertainty, which I accept.”
I did not say at all that France does not support. I will not remove the ambiguity of today’s debate by naming names. “I am saying that this was named among the options,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said that the issue of sending ground troops to Ukraine was not on the agenda of the meeting at the Elysee Palace.
Let us recall that French President Emmanuel Macron, following a meeting of Ukraine’s partner countries in Paris, announced the allies’ agreement to create a Coalition to supply Ukraine with long-range weapons for the supply of medium- and long-range missiles and bombs to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
