The G7 pledged to impose new sanctions against Russia and continue to work on using Russian assets to help Kyiv.

Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries, following an online summit on February 24, pledged to help meet Ukraine’s “urgent financial needs”, never to recognize pseudo-elections in the occupied territories of Russia, and will continue to support Ukrainian refugees and refugees. This was stated in a G7 statement on Saturday, February 24, on the second anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“We will help Ukraine meet its urgent financial needs, and we will also help other vulnerable countries that are seriously affected by the consequences of the Russian war,” they stressed.

In their statement, the G7 countries pledged to continue to support Ukraine’s right to self-defense and remain committed to Ukraine’s long-term security, especially through the conclusion and implementation of security guarantee agreements.

The G7 also called on Russia to “immediately stop the war of occupation” and fully and unconditionally withdraw its troops from the internationally recognized territory of Ukraine.

Leaders of the Group of Seven member states have vowed never to recognize the results of so-called Russian-organized elections in occupied Ukrainian territories.

“We will never recognize the so-called “elections”, both past and future, held by Russia on the territory of Ukraine, as well as their results. outrageous violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty,” – stressed those head of the G7.

They also pledged to work to bring the Russian Federation and its citizens to justice for crimes against Ukraine, including through a special tribunal, the release of civilians and prisoners of war illegally detained by Russia.

“We will continue to support Ukrainian displaced persons and refugees and protect those in need. We reaffirm our support for the Council of Europe Damage Register for Ukraine,” the G7 representatives added.

On February 24, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky took part in a G7 meeting via videoconference.
