The AH-64 Apache helicopter was on a “routine training flight” in a wooded area of Mississippi.
An AH-64 Apache attack helicopter of the National Guard crashed in the US state of Mississippi near the city of Booneville. Two soldiers were killed, the Mississippi National Guard announced on Facebook on Saturday, February 24.
It is indicated that the crash occurred yesterday in a wooded area in Prentice County at approximately 14:00 local time (23:00 Kyiv time), according to reports from the State Aviation Administration.
“Sheriff Randy Tolar’s report confirms the tragic deaths of two troopers in a crash today,” the statement said.
It was noted that the AH-64 Apache helicopter was conducting a “routine training flight.”
It was also reported that two people were injured due to the accident.
“Our primary concern now is to ensure that adequate casualty care is provided to support surviving family members. One soldier is with Company 1-149 Aviation Regiment and the other soldier is with Company D2- 151 of the Mississippi National Guard’s Lakota Medical Evacuation Unit.” – added the National Guard.
The causes of the accident have not yet been disclosed. The investigation is ongoing.
It will be remembered that in January a B-1 Lancer bomber crashed in South Dakota. The four crew members then ejected.
Earlier, during a training flight on December 11, an American F-16 fighter crashed into the Yellow Sea near South Korea. The pilot ejected the plane.
