On Friday, February 23, he met with Danish Prime Minister Matte Frederiksen in the city. Together they visited the Lychakiv cemetery and on the Field of Mars they honored the memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine. They also laid flowers at the grave of an unknown Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier who died in 2022 and was buried in Lviv. This was reported on the president’s website.
We will never forget the heroes who defended our independence, freedom and future. Eternal glory to all who gave their lives for Ukraine! – Zelensky wrote on Facebook.
As you know, the Lychakiv military cemetery is the territory of military burials in Lviv. Since April 2022, military personnel who died during the Russian-Ukrainian war have been buried in the Champ de Mars cemetery.
The purpose of the Danish Prime Minister’s visit is still unknown. The day before, Frederiksen announced that her country would guarantee support for Ukraine’s security over the next 10 years as part of a bilateral agreement. This document will probably be signed today.
In addition, the majority leader in the US Senate, Democrat Chuck Schumer, arrived in Lviv today. The politician said that he intends to meet with the Ukrainian head of state.
I am leading this delegation to meet with Zelensky, to show the Ukrainians that America stands with them, to show our NATO and European allies that we stand with them, to learn about the weapons that Ukraine desperately needs, and to protect our democracy and national security. – Schumer wrote on social network X.
Let us remind you that French President Emmanuel Macron was supposed to arrive in Ukraine on February 13-14, but suddenly postponed the visit. The Elysee Palace said it did this for security reasons. This decision raised many questions among both French and Ukrainian diplomats.
