On Friday, August 23, people’s deputies adopted in the first reading and in general bill No. 11035 on changes to the terms of compulsory military service. 317 people’s deputies voted for the basis, and 319 in total. People’s deputies Alexey Goncharenko and Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this on Telegram.
Ultimately, the bill included a provision for deferring conscripts for up to 12 months if the military did not express a desire to continue serving. Strokoviki will be discharged from service into the reserves.
A bill on the demobilization of conscripts was introduced into parliament the day before by President Vladimir Zelensky. It was proposed to release from military service into the reserve “within the time limits determined by presidential decree” conscripts whose term expired during martial law and whose military service was extended beyond the established time limits.
Let us remind you that people’s deputy from the Servant of the People Roman Grischuk said that an amendment was submitted to the bill on mobilization to return deferments from conscription to military service for contract graduate students.
