Alexei Navalny’s mother Lyudmila released a video message in which she said that they wanted to bury her son secretly.
According to the law, they were supposed to give me Alexei’s body, but they haven’t done this until now. They are blackmailing me, setting conditions for me – where, when and how Alexey should be buried. It is illegal. . They want it to be done secretly, without goodbyes… They want to take me to the cemetery, to a fresh grave and say: “Here lies your son.” I don’t agree to this. “I want you, to whom Alexey is dear, for whom his death was a personal tragedy, to have the opportunity to say goodbye to him,” she said.
Lyudmila Navalnaya said that she decided to record the video because investigators began to threaten her to “do something” with Alexei’s body if she did not agree to a secret funeral. Investigators insisted on holding a secret funeral without farewell.
The woman spoke with employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Salekhardi, where she was told that the cause of her son’s death had been established. It was previously reported that the body was sent for examination, which was supposed to last two weeks.
An associate of Alexei Navalny, Ivan Zhdanov, called the actions of the investigators a mockery.
They took her alone and did not allow her lawyers to be near her. They openly threatened to “turn their media resources against her,” he wrote.
According to Navalny’s press secretary Kira Yarmysh, the medical report states that the cause of the politician’s death is “natural.”
