The Union squad, made up of Russian athletes, is sponsored by Rosatom, Sberbank and other state-owned companies.
In Russia, they created a special detachment of athletes to participate in the war against Ukraine, sponsored by state companies. The Center for National Resistance reported this on Thursday, February 22.
It was mentioned that on the initiative of the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, Sergei Kiriyenko, the Union detachment was created. Participants of sports competitions, especially martial arts tournaments, enter there.
“The sponsors are Rosatom, Sberbank and other state-owned companies, which during the war spent tens of millions of rubles on the purchase of weapons and optical equipment. The Russian special forces university in Chechnya is responsible for the training of fighters,” the statement said.
Let’s recall that the Center for National Resistance previously reported that Russia has recruited thousands of mercenaries from Africa and Asia. It is more profitable and cheaper for the Russian Federation to find mercenaries abroad than to continue mobilization activities within the country, the Main Intelligence Directorate explained.
