Foreigners can serve in the army under contract both in ordinary positions and in the positions of sergeant and petty officer.
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky signed an order on the service of citizens of other states and stateless persons in the National Guard. The website of the President of Ukraine reported this on Wednesday, February 22.
The document states that foreigners who meet the requirements for military service can voluntarily join the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine.
“Foreigners who are legally present on the territory of Ukraine, have not been convicted before and meet the requirements for military service, specified by the Law of Ukraine “On Military Duty and Military Service”, may be admitted on a voluntary basis (under the contract ) for military service in the National Guard Ukraine (hereinafter referred to as military service),” is indicated on the president’s website.
To be enrolled in the ranks of the National Guard, foreigners must contact the territorial center for recruitment and social support in their place of residence or directly with the military unit where they wish to perform military service under a contract .
“Territorial centers of recruitment and social support, approached by foreigners who have expressed a desire to perform military service under a contract with the National Guard of Ukraine, send these people to the corresponding military units of National Guard of Ukraine,” the presidential decree reads.
A foreigner may submit an application for service in paper or electronic form.
Earlier it was reported that mercenaries from Malaysia were seen in the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk region, which the Russian Federation took over for the war against Ukraine.
The Russians are also reported to be using mercenaries from Cuba on the eastern front line.
