Hahn emphasized that the EU’s production capacity is expanding, so that next year it will be able to produce up to two million shells.
The EU will be able to produce up to two million artillery shells for Ukraine annually from 2025. This was said by the European Commissioner for Finance Johannes Hahn in an interview with Augsburger Allgemeine.
According to him, in March (when the EU promised to transfer one million shells to Ukraine), European countries will be able to transfer up to half a million shells.
“We will be able to deliver 500,200 artillery shells by the target date of March,” Gan said.
He emphasized that the EU’s production capacity is expanding.
“By the end of the year we will have as much production capacity as we can afford,” the European Commissioner said.
Hahn admitted that the EU failed to fulfill its promise of one million artillery rounds for Ukraine due to production problems.
“Ammunition is always produced only according to demand. So we have reduced a lot of production capacity in the past, and now we have to increase it again,” he said.
We remind you that France, Greece and Cyprus blocked the decision to buy ammunition for Ukraine outside the European Union.
It is also reported that Germany continues to invest heavily in ammunition production. In 2024, Ukraine will receive at least three times more shells.
