The incident with the Polish carriers is evidence of how emotions can be dangerous, the president said.
Ukrainian grains scattered on the Polish border are considered in Ukraine as a violation of unity. President Vladimir Zelensky announced this on Thursday, February 15, in a video message.
He said he ordered Prime Minister Denis Shmygal to urgently negotiate with the Polish side on the border situation.
“I ordered the Prime Minister of Ukraine to immediately talk to his Polish colleague. We see in Ukraine as an obvious violation of the principles of unity what is happening and continues in relation to our citizens and Ukrainian cargo. Ukrainian grain on the asphalt is not just some dramatic shots. It is evidence of how emotions become dangerous,” the president noted.
Zelensky emphasized the need to protect good neighborliness and unity, which is changing the history of the whole of Europe for the better.
“And we must, together with Poland, determine a common attitude, in particular, on the import of Russian grain and other imports from Russia on the territory of European countries, in order to protect our societies and , especially, the peasants – both Ukrainian. and Polish. And we must always come to an agreement among ourselves – Ukrainians and Poles – so that our common enemy in Moscow does not start conflicts on our borders against the economy , borders, and sovereignty of each of us,” Zelensky said.
It was also reported today that Shmygal discussed the border situation and the risks associated with it with the head of the Polish government, Donald Tusk. He noted the unacceptability of the incident with the Ukrainian grain scattered on the road.
Let us remind you that the Polish Minister of Agriculture Czeslaw Sekierski asked on behalf of farmers for an apology for Ukrainian grain spilled from trucks. At the same time, the Polish official said that the farmers were allegedly “understandable,” and “the reaction of Ukraine was extreme.”
