To date, almost 400 thousand Ukrainian refugees have received temporary asylum in Slovakia.

The Slovak government intends on Wednesday to consider extending the provision of temporary asylum for Ukrainian refugees until March 2025. Cabinet documents confirmed this on Tuesday, February 13.

They said that the granting of temporary asylum in Slovakia is planned to be extended until March 4, 2025.

The right of temporary protection (refugee status) gives the right to legally work on the territory of the Slovak Republic, receive secondary and higher education, send children to school, and also use medical services.

It is known that the EU Council in September 2023 extended the temporary protection mechanism for Ukrainian refugees until March 2025. The mechanism allows Ukrainian citizens to legalize themselves in the EU, receive health care services and education, access to the labor market, housing and social benefits. By the end of 2023, there were 4.2 million Ukrainian citizens registered in EU countries who received temporary protection.

We remind you that Finland will pay 5,300 euros to refugees who return to their homeland.
