He stated that the war was moving into a new stage due to technological progress, and Ukraine had moved to a defensive operation, which consisted of inflicting maximum losses on Russia.
Back in 2014, I understood that the war between Ukraine and the Russian Federation would be long-term. The life of a soldier is the main value. I’m ready to retreat from some position rather than sacrifice all my personnel,” Syrsky said.
According to his estimates, Russian losses in the war are 7-8 times higher than Ukrainian losses, since Russian commanders use “meat assault” tactics.
Everything is based on the fact that we must end the war by reaching the borders. No other options are being considered, because we simply have no other choice,” said Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky in an interview with the German TV channel ZDF.
The lack of ammunition is one of the main problems of the new commander-in-chief Syrsky. His army’s drones, technology and attitude are critical to victory.
ZDF tried for months to talk to Syrski, long before his new position became public. The chances were uncertain. Suddenly, late in the evening, a call came with the message that he would be available for an interview the next day, and the location should remain secret, the journalists wrote.
ZDF correspondent Katrin Eigendorff met him somewhere in eastern Ukraine a few days before President Zelensky officially introduced him as the new commander-in-chief. He speaks proudly of military successes against Russia, but also acknowledges that the situation is very tense.
