Some of the planes and helicopters sold were then used to help Ukraine, and three of them took part in the war on the Ukrainian side.
The Russian Federal Security Service has opened criminal charges against employees of the Federal Air Transport Agency for the sale of airplanes and helicopters abroad. Some of them were subsequently deployed to help Ukraine, and three of them took part in the war on the Ukrainian side. This was reported by a Russian propaganda publication news
It was noted that on February 7, searches were conducted at the Moscow office of the Federal Air Transport Agency, where the FSB obtained evidence of the illegality of the removal of 59 aircraft.
The Ministry of Transport explained that the employees of the Federal Air Transport Agency removed the aircraft from the State Register without a complete set of documents, and the information about the existence of ships outside of Russia is unreliable.
Eight of the vessels removed in this way were sold to countries considered “unfriendly” by the Russian authorities. The aircraft was removed from the Russian State Register from March 2022 to June 2023.
At that time, Rosaviation was headed by Alexander Neradko, and in September 2023 he was fired – they say precisely because of this story. There are suggestions that a criminal case will be opened against Neradko.
Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov referred questions about the searches at the Federal Air Transport Agency to investigative authorities, adding that the Kremlin has no right to comment on investigative actions.
It was previously reported that the Russian FSB detained a resident of the Tyumen region for allegedly “providing financial assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” The special service also took a 21-year-old resident of the Kaliningrad region, who earlier this year organized arson at transport facilities in 15 regions of Russia.
