The wreckage of the UAV was found near the village of Etulia, Vulcanesti district, near the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. Border guards cordoned off this area and passed on all information to the competent services. Access to this place for ordinary citizens was limited. NewsMaker writes about this with reference to the Moldovan Border Police.
There is no risk or danger to the population in the area, and the authorities have taken all necessary measures to maintain public order, peace and security, the department noted.
Border guards believe that the discovered drone debris is one of the Russian drones shot down by a Ukrainian anti-aircraft gun. Russia launched a massive strike with kamikaze drones on the night of February 9-10. In particular, Shaheeds were also shot down in the southern regions of Ukraine.
Let us remind you that this is not the first time that debris from Russian attack drones has been discovered in Romania. In particular, on December 14 last year, one of the downed drones fell near the village of Grindu, located approximately 8 km from the Ukrainian port of Reni. The Romanian military scrambled F-17 fighters and Eurofighter military aircraft into the airspace.
NATO said after this incident that there was no threat to Romania, since the fall of the kamikaze UAV “was not the result of a deliberate attack by the Russians.”
