The Russians receive Starlink terminals through “parallel import”, or through so-called volunteer resellers
The Russians have started using Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starlink terminals in their positions, Militarny reports.
As mentioned, the Russians receive Starlink terminals through “parallel import”, or through so-called volunteer resellers. The purchase takes place through third countries, through dummies.
SpaceX, which makes the Starlink terminals, states that the company does not do any business with the Russian Federation, or its military, or the UAE. At the same time, the company said it will deactivate terminals received without the appropriate license.
“If SpaceX receives information that a Starlink terminal is being used by a sanctioned or unauthorized party, we will investigate the claim and take action to decontaminate the terminal if it is confirmed,” the company said.
At the same time, the Militarny source said that on the Russian side, Starlink operates only in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
In addition, Oleg Kutkov, who works on Starlink terminals for the Ukrainian military, notes that in a 20-kilometer zone on the front line, it is technologically impossible to distinguish whose terminal can work and who cannot.
