By his decree No. 67, the head of state introduced the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, to the Headquarters. Also, by this decree, Zelensky removed Valery Zaluzhny from the Headquarters. This was reported on the president’s website.
By another decree No. 68, Zelensky introduced Syrsky to the National Security and Defense Council. At the same time, Valery Zaluzhny and former Minister of Veterans Affairs Yulia Laputina were removed from the National Security and Defense Council.
Let us recall that this week President Vladimir Zelensky dismissed Valery Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The head of state appointed Alexander Syrsky to this place; before that, he was the commander of the Ground Forces.
Zelensky also changed the command of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Instead of Sergei Shaptali, this post was taken by Major General Anatoly Bargilevich, who was the commander of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
