This happened during the capture of Ukrainian Armed Forces positions near Klishchievka. The moment of the murder was captured on video filmed by a Russian drone. It spread on the Internet on February 9, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported.
The video from the enemy drone also recorded that, probably, the commander of one of the army units of the aggressor state during the assault on the trenches of the Ukrainian Armed Forces gives the order not to take the enemy prisoner.
The killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime.
The office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine recalled that over the past few months, several videos of Russian military personnel executing Ukrainian soldiers who surrendered have appeared online. Ukrainian law enforcement also recorded the use of Ukrainian prisoners of war as “human shields” on the line of contact.
