About 20 Ukrainian companies are working on the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies in UAVs. It will be a drone similar to the Russian Lancet.
The Ukrainian military will soon have drones with artificial intelligence technology. The Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov announced this on Thursday, February 8, in a telethon.
“I think that in the first quarter of 2024 we will already see the widespread use of FPV drones with AI. And, among other things, Ukrainian analogues of the Lancet will soon appear, which will also work based on AI. We are now testing these UAVs,” said Fedorov.
According to him, about 20 Ukrainian companies are working on the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies in UAVs. It will be a drone similar to the Russian Lancet, and now the samples are being tested and will soon be in Ukraine.
“The Russians will complain that their equipment is constantly being destroyed by our drones like the Lancet.” Therefore, now everything is in the testing phase. But for the past six months, many companies have been working to create a specific analogue of the Lancet, and soon it will be in Ukraine,” said Fedorov.
The head of the Ministry of Digital Development also said that the production of drones capable of flying hundreds of kilometers and performing tasks is also increasing. According to him, there are quite a few long-range drones now and there is even competition between companies.
“We can do at least what Russia is doing with long-range kamikaze drones,” Fedorov said, adding that now it’s just a matter of scaling, that is, funding in this area.
Let’s recall that Fedorov previously said that Ukraine will create an analogue of the Lancet drone, and there are already combat applications of such drones.
It has also been reported that the Russians are using a new version of the Lancet. It can automatically detect targets.
