The national police will disband the special-purpose regiment of the GUNP in the Dnepropetrovsk region after a conflict related to the replenishment of the Lyut assault brigade.

    .

This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the National Police Alexander Fatsevich.

According to Fatsevich, all special forces soldiers will still be transferred to the assault brigade of the National Police “Lyut”.

Earlier, a scandal broke out in this unit. A verbal skirmish broke out between a representative of the special-purpose police regiment of the Dnepropetrovsk region (formerly the Berkut special-purpose police battalion) and the deputy head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the region, Vladimir Bogonos.

Bogonos came to the base to answer questions from his subordinates about sending 34 personnel to the front. In a video posted online, one of the men addressed him with the words:

Do you remember which unit you came to? Where did you come from? You are a bay from the Maidan, and I am from Berkut, do you understand what we’re talking about?

In the video, allegedly filmed during a meeting of law enforcement officers from the Dnepropetrovsk region, special forces officers refuse to transfer to the assault brigade of the National Police “Lyut”. As one of them stated, they are ready to fight, but only as part of their unit.

The head of the patrol police, Fatsevich, said that the police leadership will clarify all the circumstances and make appropriate decisions.

Since 2022, for the first time in the history of the Ukrainian police, special forces from various units have become full-fledged combatants; the assault brigade of the National Police “Lyut” has been created. It is logical that volunteer battalions and individual police officers, who can and are able to professionally defend the Motherland, should not be dispersed. Those who want to fight go to the front. For the rest, there are a lot of police tasks,” Fatsevich noted.
