The United States Senate did not vote on the bill, which included funds for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, as well as strengthening American border security.

There was not enough support in the Senate for a procedural vote on a bill to strengthen immigration policies that would provide additional funds for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. This draft law, which senators worked on for several months, did not receive the required 60 votes. This became known through the broadcast of a meeting of the upper house of the American Congress.

50 senators spoke out against the so-called cloture motion, which provides for accelerated further consideration of the bill.

Even before the vote began, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson said he would not put the bill to a vote. After that, there was little hope that the bill would be supported by Republicans.

According to The Hill, the US Senate may put to a vote a bill on assistance to Ukraine and Israel. From this document, which the American media called “Plan B,” all regulations on the US border with Mexico will be excluded. However, you need to get 60 votes.

Recall that on February 6, President Joe Biden addressed Congress one last time to urge lawmakers to approve a funding request for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and border security. However, he said that he sees no signs that the Senate bill with the help of Ukraine and border security will be adopted.
