The UN named the number of dead and injured civilians in Ukraine in January

During the nearly two years of Russia’s all-out war against Ukraine, a UN mission recorded more than 10,000 civilian deaths and 20,000 wounded.

The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine in January recorded 641 cases of killing or injuring civilians as a result of the Russian Federation’s aggressive war against Ukraine. This was stated in the organization’s report on Wednesday, February 7.

It is indicated that as a result of Russian missile and drone attacks, 158 people died and another 483 were injured, which is 37% higher than the data for November 2023, when the trend is towards a decrease in the number of victims observed during the year were replaced by the opposite.

The mission emphasized that the number of injured children more than doubled in the same period: 40 children died or were injured in January compared to 18 injured in November.

The UN has emphasized that the number of children killed or injured is growing in communities far from the front line.
