Moldova is preparing to organize and hold a referendum on the country’s entry into the European Union.
The European Union has started a procedure for screening Moldovan legislation, which is mandatory when a candidate country joins the EU. This was announced on Wednesday, February 7, by the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of Moldova, Cristina Gerasimov, who is in Brussels on a working visit, reports NewsMaker.
“Today I lead the Moldovan delegation in Brussels, where we started the process of assessing the compliance of Moldovan legislation with EU standards,” he said.
Gerasimov also noted that the screening of his state’s legislation will be another stage “for EU accession negotiations and is the most important step towards EU membership.”
The Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration added that he met with the head of the Directorate General for Neighborhood and Enlargement of the EU, Gert-Jan Koopman.
“We discussed further steps for joining the EU. We agreed on priority actions and a schedule for their implementation, paying attention to justice reform and the de-oligarchization process,” Gerasimov said.
Chisinau Airport replaced the three-letter code used to designate the airport to RMO (Republic of Moldova). Before this, the abbreviation KIV was used – an abbreviation of the name of Chisinau in Russian.
Kremlin officials and propagandists are setting information conditions to weaken Moldova in order to prevent Moldova’s integration with the EU and the West.
