Two-thirds of Russians believe they are not morally responsible for the deaths and destruction of civilians in Ukraine.
Support for an aggressive war against the Ukrainian people among the Russian population grew to 77%. This is confirmed by survey data published by the Russian analytical center Levada Center.
According to its results, in January 2024, 77% of respondents support the war against Ukraine, 16% of respondents do not support it, and another 8% find it difficult to answer.
At the same time, half of Russians support the idea of peace negotiations, but this number has slightly decreased compared to November last year.
Also, only a third of Russians believe that they bear moral responsibility for the civilian deaths and destruction in Ukraine (10% – definitely and 21% – to a certain extent). At the same time, 62% of respondents have the opposite opinion.
In addition, 66% of Russians surveyed agree that their country is paying too high a price for participating in the war. However, this number decreased compared to July 2023. Then 82% of respondents agreed with this statement.
Also, the majority of respondents (77%) believe that the conflict in Ukraine will end with the victory of Russia – this is 6% more than a year ago.
