Cyber diplomacy is diplomacy in cyberspace or the use of diplomatic resources and the performance of diplomatic duties to protect national interests in cyberspace.
Ukraine may create the position of a cyber diplomat, as it is required by the rapid development of technology in the world. The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexey Danilov announced this today, February 7, at the opening of the Kyiv International CyberResilience Forum 2024, wrote RBC-Ukraine.
“There is a big movement happening in the world today. A large number of countries have cyber diplomats. I think that such a position as a cyber diplomat will soon appear in our country, because it is an important area of struggle,” said Danilov.
The publication reports that for the first time digital diplomacy in Ukraine is mentioned as a part of the public diplomacy strategy adopted in 2021 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – it is primarily about the so-called “dimension of communication”.
“Cyber diplomacy is diplomacy in cyberspace, or the use of diplomatic resources and diplomatic roles to protect national interests in cyberspace. These interests are typically reflected in national cyberspace or cybersecurity strategies,” said publication.
