On February 1, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the sinking of the Ivanovets. A video has appeared online of several Ukrainian surface drones hitting a Russian ship, which leads to the elimination of this one combat unit. The UK Ministry of Defense announced this on Twitter on February 6.
According to Western intelligence information, this missile boat was patrolling the western coast of Crimea. And the Ivanovets’ sophisticated communications link allowed it to send and receive target data to and from other ships, helicopters and long-range patrol aircraft.
The British believe that the sinking of this boat highlights the vulnerability of Russian warships operating in the Black Sea. It is possible that this loss will affect the governing bodies of the Black Sea Fleet. It is likely that the occupiers will be forced to reassess their maneuverability in the western Crimea region.
However, the Russian Navy is almost certainly still capable of carrying out its three main missions in the Black Sea: long-range strike, patrol and support, the British Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
Let us remind you that the destruction of the Russian missile boat “Ivanovets” became known on February 1. As a result of a number of direct hits by six Ukrainian-made MAGURA V5 naval drones on the hull, the Russian ship was damaged, tilted aft and sank. The operation to destroy the boat was carried out by soldiers of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
