The Ukrainian military left the Mariupol Azovstal plant exactly a month ago and has since been in captivity.

Azovstal’s defenders, who are in Russian captivity, are alive, Andriy Yermak, head of the President’s Office, said in an interview with LB published on Monday, June 20.

“We know that they are alive. As for the conditions, this issue is also being monitored. We cannot yet say clearly what the condition is. But we know that they are alive,” he said.

The situation with the defenders of Azovstal is under the control of the intelligence department of the Ministry of Defense.

“There is a connection with some of them, and the process of their release does not stop even for an hour. I hope that it will enter its active stage, and we will start bringing our heroes back to Ukraine,” Yermak added.

The OP leader assured that the release of the captured military is the main task of the authorities, as well as the Main Intelligence Directorate.

Recall that on May 20, the last Ukrainian military group left Azovstal. In all, about 2.5 thousand soldiers left the plant.
