Law enforcement officers detained five members of the group, among whom were former officials of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, as well as an employee of the regional department of the SBU. These officers provided intelligence on Ukrainian defense forces and strategically important energy facilities. The curator of the attackers was an FSB officer located in the territory of occupied Crimea. This was reported by the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Investigators have established that the ex-GUR official was recruited by the FSB even before the full-scale invasion while on duty. He collected information about the locations of the Ukrainian military, and after February 24, 2022, he told the enemy about the channels for transporting foreign weapons to Ukraine. He also informed the FSB of secret information about the operating features and security system of the Rivne and Khmelnytsky nuclear power plants.
He transferred all the data to the Russian intelligence service through an accomplice who went abroad as a volunteer and personally reported to the FSB resident. However, he transmitted particularly sensitive information on a flash drive because of smugglers from the border regions of Ukraine.
Another former employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate passed on the personal data of the Ukrainian military to the enemy. And the detained employee of the regional department of the SBU was reconnaissance for the occupiers of the geolocation of fortifications and engineering barriers near the coastline of the Odessa region.
It turned out that the Russian Federal Security Service recruited group members using threats to kill their families. But they were paid money for the work they did.
Five members of the Russian intelligence network have already been declared suspected under Art. 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They have already been chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention.
Let us recall that in the Donetsk region, the SBU detained a Russian agent who, on instructions from enemy intelligence services, was preparing enemy artillery strikes on the headquarters and key strongholds of Ukrainian Armed Forces units near Avdiivka.
