The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence recommended the extension of martial law and mobilization in Ukraine for another 90 days. People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced this on Telegram on Tuesday, February 6.
“The Defense Committee supported the parliament’s approval of the decrees (10457 and 10456) on the extension of martial law. “For” 18 and 20 – the decision was made unanimously,” he said.
According to Zheleznyak, it is proposed to extend martial law and mobilization in Ukraine from February 14, 2023, for 90 days – respectively, until May 13, 2024.
“Next, the extension needs approval from parliament, where voting is scheduled today,” the people’s representative added.
Let’s recall that on February 5, President Vladimir Zelensky proposed to the parliament to extend martial law and mobilization in Ukraine.
As you know, on the morning of February 24, 2022, Ukraine introduced martial law for the first time in history after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion.
Since then, the Verkhovna Rada has extended martial law and mobilization nine times since the start of the war. They were last extended on November 8, 2023.
