The American leader called for the adoption of a bill providing more than $60 billion in aid to Ukraine as soon as possible.
US President Joe Biden called on senators to quickly vote on the bipartisan national security agreement tabled by the Senate, which provides $60 billion in aid to Ukraine. Biden’s statement on Sunday, February 4, was published on the White House website.
Biden said he “strongly” supports the bipartisan agreement announced Sunday.
“We have now reached agreement on a bipartisan national security agreement that includes the toughest and fairest set of border reforms in decades. I fully support it,” Biden said.
He noted that the bipartisan agreement on national security also applies to two other important priorities.
“This will allow the United States to continue our important work with partners around the world to defend Ukraine’s independence and support its ability to defend itself against Russian aggression. As I have said before, unless let’s stop Putin’s appetite for power and control in Ukraine, he will not be limited to Ukraine, and the price for America will rise,” the statement said.
Biden also noted that the agreement also gives Israel what it needs to protect its people and defend against Hamas terrorists. And it will provide essential humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
We remind you that the package worth $118 billion combines US border protection policy, aid to Ukraine and Israel. Military aid to Ukraine here provides for the allocation of 48.43 billion dollars. More than 10 billion will be spent on budget and economic support and humanitarian aid.
Earlier, the Republican leader in the US Senate, Mitch McConnell, said that military support for Ukraine is in the national interest of the United States.
