President Vladimir Zelensky signed a decree appointing the mayor of Melitopol Ivan Fedorov as the head of the Zaporozhye region.
The order is dated February 2.
Meanwhile, the former head of Zaporozhye OVA, Yuriy Malashko, recorded a video message in which he said that he transfers all the victories to the new team: “We transfer all our victories to the new team that leader. region, and we believe that the new leaders of the region will not miss and will continue their fruitful work for the sake of every Cossack. the internal enemy – corruption. For me – to accept new challenges on the way to to Ukraine’s Victory in this heinous war.”
Fedorov noted that his goal as the head of the OBA is to unite efforts in the approaching victory of Ukraine.
Fedorov became the mayor of Melitopol in 2020. When Melitopol was occupied in 2022, Fedorov refused to cooperate with the Russians. On March 11, he was kidnapped by the Russian military. The next day, about two thousand city residents protested demanding Fedorov’s release. After six days of captivity, Fedorov was exchanged for nine captured Russian conscripts.
