The German government plans to more carefully study the connections of the right-wing Alternative for Germany party with the Russian FSB.

In the Bundestag, it was proposed to study the connections of the right-wing Alternative for Germany party with the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation. This initiative was made by the Minister of the Interior, Nancy Feser, reports NTV.

“We must continue to shed light on the connections between right-wing extremist networks and Russia,” Feser said, noting that German law enforcement agencies “continue to monitor Russian influence very close.”

He emphasized that “Moscow’s outstretched hand should not reach the parliaments.” Feser also emphasized that this precedent should “concern everyone who previously did not take this risk seriously.”

Feser said it has long been clear “who allowed themselves to be used in Putin’s propaganda machine.”

“The underlying interest is to destroy trust in our democracy and undermine our support for Ukraine,” he said, adding that there were “significant overlaps” between Russian propaganda and the narratives presented on the right.

This is how Feser responded to reports from Der Spiegel and The Insider. In a joint investigation, journalists said that Vladimir Sergienko, a Russian political strategist of Ukrainian origin and an assistant to a Bundestag deputy from the far-right Alternative for Germany party, was recruited by the FSB’s Fifth Service. According to his work, he tried to stop the supply of tanks to Ukraine.

Let’s remember that in January, hundreds of thousands of protesters took to the streets of various cities after a report of a meeting attended by representatives of the Alternative for Germany, where they discussed a “remigration” scheme – that is, the expulsion of immigrants from the country. The party suffered its biggest weekly drop in popularity in almost two years.
