Local authorities said the fire at the oil refinery was allegedly started by “falling debris.”
Russian media posted a video of the moment the drone hit the LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil refinery in Volgograd.
Residents of nearby communities heard two explosions half an hour apart. As a result of this attack, a fire broke out inarea of 300 square meters.
The regional governor and the local Ministry of Defense reported on the alleged “interception of two UAVs” in the Volgograd region, and that the fire allegedly started due to “falling debris.” However, the video shows an explosion and subsequent fire, which cannot be explained by the usual “falling debris.”
The fire at the plant has been extinguished, no one was injured, local authorities assured.
The largest producer of petroleum products in the Southern Federal District of Russia is LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka.
As we wrote earlier, after the UAV strike in Tuapse, a huge fire broke out in an oil depot.
