Companies in Iran and Hong Kong, where restrictions were imposed, acted as purchasing organizations, the US Treasury said.
The United States imposed on Friday, February 2, new sanctions against a network of companies that helped Iran make suicide bombs. This was reported by the US Treasury Department.
The US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) authorized a major acquisition network of key suppliers of materials and sensitive technology to Iran’s ballistic missile and unmanned aerial vehicle programs, including these drones.
Companies in Iran and Hong Kong that were sanctioned were run as secret purchasing organizations.
Treasury Under Secretary for Counterterrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson said Iran’s continued proliferation of its advanced conventional weapons, including drones and missiles targeting US soldiers, remains a serious threat to the stability of the region.
The Ministry of Finance clarified that the restrictions were introduced against:
-
FYIT company from Hong Kong;
-
Duling Technology from Hong Kong;
-
Advantage Trading from Hong Kong;
-
NSMI company from Iran;
-
COPC company from Hong Kong.
Let us recall that in November 2023, the United States announced the introduction of a new package of sanctions against two dozen individuals and organizations in Iran and other countries that provided financial income to the Iranian regime.
In addition, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions against a number of companies from Iran, China, Russia and Turkey that contributed to the smuggling of components for the production of Iranian aircraft and drones .
