The SBU press center reported this today, February 2,
The defendant turned out to be a resident of Snigirevshchina. After its capture, he helped the invaders check local residents who were trying to leave for territory controlled by Ukraine, the report says.
It is noted that the attacker voluntarily agreed to “stand guard” at Russian checkpoints that were located at the exits from the populated area:
- there, with a weapon in his hands, he stopped the cars of Ukrainians and took away their mobile phones, passports and other documents for inspection;
- then he took people out of the car and invited them to stay in the occupied part of the region and cooperate with the Rashists;
- The invaders also confiscated vehicles, money and other personal belongings of the victims.
However, during the liberation of Snigirevka, the Russian occupiers left their henchman in the city and did not take him with them when they fled to the left bank of the Kherson region, the SBU notes.
For a long time, the attacker was hiding from justice in the region. To do this, he tried to be inconspicuous and periodically changed his residential addresses. However, SBU officers eventually found him and detained him during stabilization measures in the deoccupied territory of the region.
Based on the collected evidence, he was informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 111-2 of the Criminal Code (aiding the aggressor state). The defendant faces up to 12 years in prison.
The attacker is currently in custody.
