The situation in the energy system this winter is fundamentally different from the previous winter, the president emphasized in an evening video message.
This winter in Ukraine the energy market situation is different than a year ago, the system has been preserved. The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said this today, January 31, in an evening video message to the people.
But Zelensky began his address with a message about the exchange of prisoners.
“They returned our people. Another 207. In total, more than 3 thousand. Men who fought in Mariupol and in other directions in the Donetsk region, Kharkov region, Zaporozhye. The men have different different ranks, different experience. All are equally important for Ukraine. And we will also release all our people. And this is a duty. We are looking for each and everyone – military and civilian. We are checking the all possibilities. And our team is working on it without any interruption,” said the president.
The second thing that Zelensky emphasized was preparation for the meeting of the European Council at the level of leaders.
“And the third thing you definitely need to pay attention to. Everyone. Every night, every day, there are new Russian terrorist attacks. Missiles and drones. We shoot down a significant part. There are still many hits. But it’s already January 31. Fundamentally different than last winter , energy situation. The system has been preserved. We provide energy to Ukrainians, we ensure and continue to strengthen the protection of energy facilities, we strengthen our air shield, there is still much to do do this winter, and there will still be Russian terrorist attacks, and the Russians will try to destroy our defenses. We understand the threat. And we thank everyone who defends the state,” the president added.
We remind you that the exchange of prisoners in the Russian Federation, which was planned on January 24 and did not take place due to the downing of the Russian Il-76, should be one of the largest since the beginning of a full-scale war. The Russians said there were supposed to be Ukrainians on the plane being swapped.
The Main Intelligence Directorate said that at present there is no reliable and comprehensive information about who can board the Il-76.
