Contracts with Urenco and CAMECO companies guarantee the long-term uninterrupted operation of domestic nuclear generation, said the head of Energoatom.
Abandonment of Russian nuclear fuel and contracts with international partners is allowed Energoatom from 2022, save UAH 2.3 billion on the difference in world prices. This was reported by the acting Chairman of the Board of JSC NAEC Energoatom Petr Kotin, writes the press service Energoatom.
“First, we calmly and without damage completely abandoned nuclear materials and related services of Russian origin. Second, due to the difference in world prices for these products (from the time of acquisition to today, on average, they have increased by more than a third) we save about UAH 2.3 billion,” said Kotin.
It is reported that the signed Energoatom contracts with Urenco and CAMECO companies guarantee the long-term uninterrupted operation of domestic nuclear generation.
“The English company Urenco will supply Energoatom uranium enrichment services until 2035 with a possible contract extension until 2043. And Canadian CAMECO will meet 100% of needs from 2024 to 2035 Energoatom in natural uranium hexafluoride (UF6), supplying it and providing conversion services,” the statement said.
It was previously reported that NABU and SAP completed an investigation into the suspicion of four people involved in almost UAH 100 million in losses of the State Enterprise NAEC Energoatom.
