He was caught red-handed when he was trying to identify the locations of the greatest concentration of personnel and heavy weapons of the Ukrainian Armed Forces protecting the border areas of the region.
To collect intelligence data, the attacker walked around the area and secretly recorded the positions of Ukrainian troops under the guise of telephone conversations.
Another task of the defendant was to create his own network of informants for enhanced reconnaissance in the region.
He faces life imprisonment, the SBU reports.
According to journalist Andrei Tsaplienko, a local man who worked for the Russians is named Anatoly Sirenko, he also tried to create his own network of informants.
