Armin Papperger rejected accusations of slow arms delivery and emphasized that the pace, on the contrary, was fast.
The Rheinmetall concern will build a new ammunition production plant in Germany, which, in particular, will supply shells to Ukraine. This was stated by the company’s CEO Armin Papperger, reported the German publication Bild on Monday, January 29.
He rejected accusations of slow delivery.
“The pace is fast: what used to take ten years is now completed in a few months. We will now build a new ammunition manufacturing plant in Germany on schedule to ensure strategic security of supply,” the official assured.
Papperger also noted the good cooperation between the German government and the arms industry.
“Much has changed for the better in military procurement. Rheinmetall alone last year received orders or framework agreements from the federal government worth more than 10 billion euros – for the Bundeswehr and Ukraine. This year the this amount will increase to at least 15 billion, ”said the general director of the concern.
As we have already written, Ukraine will receive 150 thousand shells from Rheinmetall. The German government ordered them. Several tens of thousands of shells are planned to be delivered to Ukraine in 2023, and the rest in 2024.
In addition, Rheinmetall plans to build the first samples of armored vehicles in Ukraine in 2024.
