France and India agreed to jointly manufacture weapons

India and France will jointly manufacture military equipment, including helicopters and submarines for the Indian armed forces as well as friendly countries. Reuters reported this yesterday.

The leaders agreed to expand bilateral relations in defense manufacturing, nuclear energy, space research and the use of artificial intelligence for government services. However, the value of any transactions is not specified.

The Tata Group and Airbus have also signed an agreement to jointly manufacture civil helicopters. French jet engine manufacturer CFM International has announced an agreement with India’s Akasa Air to buy more than 300 LEAP-1B engines to power 150 Boeing aircraft.

In addition, India and France agreed to intensify cooperation in the southwest Indian Ocean.

Earlier, media reported that India will buy fighter jets and submarines from France. We are talking about 26 Rafale M carrier-based fighters and three Scorpene class submarines.
