Western officials believe the Kremlin “intends to wage war for at least three to four years,” reports The Telegraph.
Russia is ready to fight for several more years because Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that economic mobilization will change the course of the war in Ukraine. This was reported by the British publication The Telegraph, citing the words of an anonymous Western official.
It is difficult to assess the scale of the transition of the Russian Federation to a military economy, because information about the defense industry is classified, and propaganda only exaggerates. But experts are confident that the Russian military-industrial complex is dangerous and actively developing.
Russia said it produced 1,530 tanks and 2,518 armored fighting vehicles last year. Tank production increased by 560%, and armored personnel carriers by 350%.
Russia plans to produce 2 million artillery shells a year, double what Western intelligence agencies expect, Western officials said on condition of anonymity.
The material states that the impact of the development of the Russian military-industrial complex on the battlefield is “instant and obvious.” According to the publication, Russia has yet to produce enough weapons to mount a major offensive this year.
“They are talking about mobilizing their defense industry in the next three years, which means they intend to fight a war for at least three to four years,” the source said.
The media said that Western sanctions do not stop Russia from producing weapons, but only force them to spend more money on each component. And even despite this, the Russian military machine has problems with a lack of skilled labor and low-quality spare parts.
The military-industrial complex of the Soviet legacy cannot keep up with the scale of modern warfare. Many Russian-made missiles do not meet requirements, and despite increased production, enemy factories “barely keep up with demand.”
Let’s recall that Vladimir Putin previously stated that in 2014 the war in Ukraine was apparently started by the United States, and not by Russia, which annexed Ukrainian Crimea and started a hybrid war in Donbass.
Let’s add that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that the Ukrainian people will never forgive Putin and his entourage for unleashing a full-scale war.
