The head of the Agency for Tracing and Asset Management of Ukraine, Elena Duma, announced this on January 26.
Assurances have been received that Croatia expects the speedy transfer of the vessel to Ukraine. According to the Croatian side, there are no legal obstacles to the implementation of this intention, the Duma wrote.
She clarified that the agency received permission to re-examine the vessel. After assessing the value of the yacht, it is planned to sell it.
The sale of this lot will be the first example of the sale of seized assets located abroad,” Duma added.
The yacht Royal Romance, worth about 200 million euros, was acquired in 2015 by Fregata Marine, which was owned by Oksana Marchenko, Medvedchuk’s wife. 2021 vessel was transferred to another company. In March 2022, the yacht was seized by Croatian authorities. In November, the ship was inspected by employees of the Asset Tracing and Management Agency.
In October 2023, “Verstka” found a new yacht worth $9.6 million from the Medvedchuk family. The ship, named Amore Mio, was launched in 2023. She passed Russian customs on July 26. The recipient of the yacht in Russia, according to customs data, was Renaissance JSC, whose beneficial owner was Oksana Marchenko.
Medvedchuk is called Putin’s godfather: he said that the Russian president is his daughter’s godfather.
In 2021, the Ukrainian authorities accused Medvedchuk of treason and sent him under house arrest. After the outbreak of a full-scale war, the politician escaped from house arrest. He was soon detained, and in September Medvedchuk was handed over to the Russians as part of a prisoner exchange. Kyiv then exchanged the politician and 55 Russians for 215 military personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including Azov commanders and Azovstal defenders.
