Road accident situation has worsened compared to 2022. Most people die on roads due to speeding.
In Ukraine, the number of road accidents increased by a quarter compared to 2022, and the number of deaths from them increased by 9%. The corresponding statistics were released by the Patrol Police on Friday, January 26.
It is stated that over 50% of all fatal accidents are caused by speeding.
“In 2023, there were 23,462 road accidents with death or injury. At the same time, 3,053 people died, and 29,502 people were injured. In Kyiv, 103 people died,” law enforcement officials reported.

The most deaths on roads near populated areas were recorded in Dnepropetrovsk (191), Lviv (126) and Kharkov (120) regions.
Almost a quarter of all road accidents occur between 17:00 and 19:00.
Earlier it was reported that a woman died under the wheels of a trolleybus in Rivne. And near Ternopil, a minibus collided with two trucks. Eight people with various injuries were taken to the hospital.
