Russia increased its steel production to a record level

Last year, steel production in the Russian Federation, according to the World Steel Association (WSA), increased by 5.6%.

In Russia, steel production at the end of 2023 increased to 75.8 million tons, almost reaching the historical record of 2021 (76 million tons). This was reported by RosSMI.

According to the World Steel Association (WSA), Russia is the fifth largest steel producer in the world. Last year, steel production in the Russian Federation increased by 5.6%.

The domestic market for metal consumption in the Russian Federation, according to estimates from the Russian Severstal, grew by 7% during the nine months of last year – to 35.1 million tons.

We remind you that the European Steel Association (EUROFER) criticized the decision of the European Commission to extend the permission to import Russian semi-finished products to the EU as part of a new package of sanctions until 2028.

It was also reported that Ukraine produced 5.16 million tons of steel in the 10 months of 2023, which is 11.7% less than the volumes for January-October 2022.
