Former Deputy Minister of Defense, responsible for logistics support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, V. O. Head of the Department of Public Procurement and Supply of Material Resources, as well as V. The head of the central quality control department of the MOU is suspected of obstructing the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which led to grave consequences of 1.4 billion UAH and embezzlement of more than 222 million UAH. This was reported on January 26 by the State Bureau of Investigation.
Investigators found that the former deputy head of the Ministry of Defense lobbied for the conclusion of contracts for the supply of clothing for the military: body armor, helmets, clothing and other things for the needs of the Armed Forces. All these things were of low quality, but were bought at inflated prices. Contracts were concluded with full subscription. These goods were purchased for more than UAH 1.4 billion.
The attackers also ordered low-quality personal protective equipment abroad. At the same time, officials paid for the order in full in advance. As a result, the military received body armor that cannot be used in combat. Thus, the state budget lost not only 222 million UAH.
The parties to the transaction were informed of suspicion of obstruction of the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, embezzlement of property on an especially large scale through abuse of official position, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons under martial law (part 2 of article 28, part 2 of article 114-1, part 5 Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). They face up to 15 years in prison.
Let us recall that on January 25, the Security Service of Ukraine announced that almost 1.5 billion UAH, illegally transferred abroad during the purchase of a wholesale batch of ammunition, were returned to the state budget. The defendants have already been informed of suspicion and face 15 years in prison.
