The Verkhovna Rada passed a law banning the playing of Russian music in the media and public spaces, Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said on June 19. According to the website of the Ukrainian parliament, 303 deputies voted for the adoption of the law.
The text of the law states that in Ukraine it is prohibited to conduct and display “sound programs, videograms and music videos” in public if it is produced by a citizen of a country declared aggressor in Ukraine. The Verkhovna Rada in 2015 declared Russia as an aggressor state.
The Rada also adopted a law prohibiting the import and distribution of books and other publishing products from Russia, Belarus and the occupied territories of Ukraine.
Earlier today it was reported that the Moldovan authorities had banned the broadcasting of Russian news and analytical programs, as well as Russian military films.
