The meeting took place on January 24 in Uzhgorod. Bilateral relations and support for European initiatives were on the agenda. The parties have reached agreement on a number of issues and have specific agreements. The head of the Ukrainian government announced this on Telegram.
Fico’s government allowed Ukraine to buy weapons from Slovak businesses and equipment for the construction of defense lines. In addition, Bratislava will support the Ukraine Facility program, which provides for the allocation of 50 billion euros to Ukraine from the European Union.
During the conversation, Fico assured Shmygal of full support for Ukraine’s European integration aspirations, and both countries will continue fruitful cooperation for the sake of security and prosperity.
Following the meeting, Smigal and Fico signed a joint statement that strengthened bilateral relations between Ukraine and Slovakia on the basis of mutual trust and respect.
Let us remember that on the eve of his arrival in Uzhgorod, Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico said that the only way to end Russia’s war against Ukraine is to give up part of the Ukrainian territories to the invaders. He will also veto Ukraine’s path to NATO, since this is the basis for World War III.
