Today the country’s storage facilities are 54% full, and by October, Italy should have at least 70-80% of the stocks to cope with the maximum winter load.
Italy will survive the coming winter, despite a reduction in gas supplies from Russia, thanks to diversity. This was announced on Saturday, June 18, by the head of the oil and gas group Eni, Claudio Descalzi, speaking in Bologna at an event organized by the newspaper La Repubblica.
He noted that Italy lacks nearly 30 million cubic meters. m of Russian gas per day. At the same time, the supply of gas from the external market exceeds the demand of 40 million cubic meters. m. At the same time, he stressed that there is an increase in gas supply from Algeria.
“We will start preparing for the winter of 2022-23. Reserves are already at 54%, we still need to speed up the flow of gas from other countries, and, certainly, there will be a high alert regime and some restrictions, but in any case, we have diversification, which will allow you to spend the winter.
He added that in October it is necessary to fill storage facilities by 70-80%.
According to the head of the oil and gas group, the measures taken by the Italian government will allow Italians to survive the coming winter.
Descalzi, in response to a question about a possible increase in charges, said that it depends on whether the authorities manage to keep the price of gas.
“Europe and Italy have the energy to find solutions,” he said.
It was previously reported that the United States will help Ukraine cope with the upcoming heating season.
