Cruise ships, on the one hand, are a source of pollution, but on the other hand, they are an important source of revenue for economies.
In Nice, France, city authorities ordered a cruise ship that had complained of environmental pollution to leave the port just hours after its arrival. This was reported by BFMTV.
We are talking about the Greek cruise ship Aegan Odyssey, which has about 300 passengers.
Local residents noticed the thick cloud of smoke thrown by the liner and the noise from the ship’s equipment and complained to city authorities.
A few hours after arrival, the liner was ordered to leave the port and move towards Toulouse.
Following the ship’s “expulsion” from Nice, Marseille -based agent Medov France, responsible for stopping the liner on behalf of the charter company, asked for clarification from the port authorities, citing the fact that a “strike on the reputation” of the company was made.
French cities on the Mediterranean coast in recent years have increasingly faced difficult choices due to cruise ships, which, on the one hand, are a source of pollution, but on the other hand, are an important source of revenue for local economy.
It was previously reported that the French city of Nice had entered the UNESCO World Heritage List in the second attempt.
