Funds are allocated for the period until the summer of 2024. Coverage of accommodation costs, food and other expenses is provided.
The Latvian government has allocated 15.6 million euros to cover costs incurred by municipal authorities in connection with the reception and support of refugees from Ukraine. This was stated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of Latvia, reports LSM.lv.
The funds are allocated for the period until the summer of 2024. The following costs are provided for: provision of accommodation and food (for the provision of basic care and payment of compensation to individuals and legal entities for on housing Ukrainian refugees and improvement of municipal areas); to provide social support; to provide education; in support of requests for management services; to ensure the activities of coordination points for joint state and municipal assistance in the period until June of this year.
It was noted that the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of Latvia will have no more than 15.6 million euros at its disposal to compensate the local government for the corresponding costs once a month.
Previously, the Latvian government, in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Finance, has already transferred 28.5 million to local governments for January – November 2023.
