Germany plans to move modern air defense systems to Ukraine closer in October. So far they have been developed by German specialists.
Germany will send new howitzers to Ukraine in the coming weeks. Along with artillery, MLRS deliveries are expected. This was announced on Saturday, June 18, by the German Ambassador to Ukraine, Anka Feldhusen, during the UA Razom telethon.
He specified that deliveries would take place in three to six weeks.
“HIMARS will be added to them, which are supplied along with Britain and the United States. HIMARS are now being collected in Europe, and Ukrainian soldiers are being trained to handle them,” he said.
Also, according to him, modern (anti-ballistic) systems are expected closer to October, announced by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
“Right now they’re still doing it,” he said.
The ambassador noted that former Chancellor Angela Merkel does not give the impression of someone who wants to return to active political activity, and denied information by some media about Merkel’s involvement in resolving the crisis.
“He spoke in public for the first time since leaving the chancellor’s post, and this speech didn’t give me the feeling that he wanted to return to active political activity,” Feldhusen said.
Recall that after returning from Kyiv, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was criticized by his own coalition due to the fact that on the visit he did not make any promises on providing heavy weapons.
